I Suck At Self Promotion!

Just Let Me Do It Not Have to Shout About It

I’ve heard all the advice.

“Get on a roll…Just start posting, momentum will carry you…People want to hear what you’re thinking about and building.”

I nod. I agree. I even repeat it back to other people like I’ve got it all figured out.

Then I ignore it.

Because here’s the truth and I won’t hide it: I Suck At Self-Promotion!

It’s not because I don’t believe in what I’m doing and what I am building. And it’s certainly not because I’m shy. Ahh, definitely not because I don’t have opinions (ask anyone who has debated me on 70’s rock trivia over a few pints at the pub). I struggle because self-promotion feels… off. Performative. Slightly dishonest. Like I’m turning something thoughtful into something loud.

And loud is just not my natural register.

I like building things. I like solving real problems. I like helping people win. What I don’t love is standing on a virtual soapbox trying to convince the internet that today’s insight is the one they should stop scrolling for.

  • So I stall.
  • I overthink.
  • I wait for the “right moment.”

Which, of course, never shows up.

The Irony

Here’s the funny part. One of the main reasons we started ImpertoAI is because of this exact problem. Not just my issues, but that of a ton of people…and companies.

There are brilliant Founders, Consultants, Creators, and Operators who:

  • Know their craft deeply
  • Care about their customers
  • Have real stories worth telling

…and still freeze when it’s time to “post consistently.”

  • It’s not a motivation problem.
  • It’s not a creativity problem.
  • It’s a translation problem.

Taking what’s in your personal brand (your voice, your values, your way of thinking) and turning it into content that feels authentic IS exhausting.

Automation Without Losing Yourself

Most content tools push you toward volume first: More posts. More hooks. More noise.

ImpertoAI was built from the opposite instinct:

What if automation could protect your voice instead of replacing it? The goal isn’t to make everyone sound confident, viral, or “on brand” in the same generic way. It’s to help people show up as themselves, consistently, without having to wrestle their inner critic every time they open LinkedIn.

Especially for people like me who would rather solve problems than hype solutions.

Showing Up Anyway

I still suck at self-promotion. That hasn’t magically changed since I started writing this. But I’m learning that showing up doesn’t have to mean shouting. It can mean:

  • Saying the quiet thing out loud, but doing so without boasting
  • Sharing the imperfect thought, that shows research & expertise
  • Letting systems handle the repetition so humans can keep their honesty

This post is part confession, part reminder (to myself most of all) that avoiding the spotlight doesn’t make the work speak louder. Sometimes you have to give it a bullhorn.

Even if your voice shakes a little.

If automation can help make anxiety go down, not make any of us feel like ego driven schmucks schlepping for a buck without turning us into someone we are not, then it’s probably worth building.

So Here’s the Uncomfortable Ask

We built ImpertoAI for people just like us – Entrepreneurs, Solopreneurs, and Small Business Owners who’d rather focus on their work, their customers and their families than wrestle with something called a content calendar. We get you. Need to show up online, with your brand, your voice and your thoughts? We can help. ImpertoAI helps people like us build, schedule, and post content that actually sounds like the authentic / real us. No esoteric, theorized voice.

Create. Connect. Communicate…because your voice deserves to be heard, even if you hate raising it.

PS: A human wrote this… imperto.ai amplified it.
